Patricia stretched, feeling a deep satisfaction, a joy in who she was, in her relationship with Anton, in her new way of working. It was good, she had found herself in the depths of her soul.
She was more ardent and powerful than ever. She thought about yesterday morning, when she had put her mobile back on vibrate after the night and checked to see if any messages had come in the night, requests for help with physical problems, illnesses, and occasionally emotional, psychological problems. When she looked in her mailbox yesterday morning, she saw that someone had emailed, and a short time later an email had followed, with an enthusiastic response, that the problem had already disappeared. She had been amazed, because she knew she had dreamt about the exact same problem that night. Apparently that person had contacted her and that alone was enough to set her soul to work.
As she thought back on it, she realised, that this was thus really a soul-to-soul reaction. Her soul had responded to the soul of the person who had emailed.
She couldn't explain it, she could only feel that this was what she wanted to live for, that this really gave meaning to her life. This was real life!
She wondered, what she would do with her days if, in the future, it would always be enough for people to send a message, and they were already healing by doing so, by opening up to her. Then that would mean that she wouldn't actually have to respond to their messages anymore. That did feel strange, impersonal, as if she didn't care how all those people were doing.
While she was discussing that with herself, she felt Anton turn around and saw that he was waking up. She smiled at him and curled up against him.
"Good morning beauty," Anton whispered, "you may let go of all systems and habits. I don't know what it's about, but that's the first thing that comes to my mind."
Patricia shot into laughter. "I was awake just a little before you and was talking to myself about all these reports of sick and injured people. Suppose it is going to happen more and more often, maybe even just like this, that people are already healing by sending me an email, by seeking contact, opening up to me, to my soul power..."
"That last one yes, that's what it's about, they open themselves to your soul power. But go on, what were you talking to yourself about?"
"Well, then in theory there would be no need to answer all those messages at all. And what I was worried about for a while then was that that would come across as so impersonal, that it would seem like I'm not interested in them. And then you woke up, and told me to let go of all the systems and habits. I feel that that's it, it's a habit, a very fixed habit, that you have to respond. It's the way it should be. I think I' m going to make a little mention on my website, on the Vision page or the contact page, about it, that I won't always respond to their messages by writing back anymore, but that my soul does continue to respond to their messages. All I'm thinking at the moment is that it's important that I do go through all the emails a couple of times a day to at least pick out all the healings for the website, and do reply to messages that don't show any healing yet, because it might need an extra shot of soul power or something."
"Perfect! It could well be, that even the testimonies on your site are going to be different. Different in the sense that you won't write them anymore, but that Jonathan and you will include that option on the site allowing people to tell their stories directly. Then you won't have to report on it yourself at all. Think about it, and discuss it with Jonathan."
"Good reason to have dinner together again tonight?" suggested Patricia.
"Seems like a great reason, although you can always invite them for no reason too. The fact that we love them is reason enough, right?"
"True, it's always wonderful to be with them or have them here. The connection we have is just so strong!"
"Yeah, you know what I was thinking lately? You are my soulmate, the soulmate that Joke has never been from me. But since you and I are together, and Jo and Jo..." he chuckled and interrupted himself. "I always noticed that their names both start with Jo, hence Jo and Jo. Since they have been together, and so have we, it seems like something has broken through between Joke and me or something, I don't know how or what, but since then I do have more of a real connection with her. Rest assured, darling, you remain THE soulmate for me, but in the friendship it's there now with Joke too, with both of them. I don't understand how it works, but I am happy about it."
"I'll confess something to you... I have felt that from the beginning when we moved on together and you came to live here with me, as if something snapped off that had been between the two of you. But I'm happy to remain your number one hey, I don't want to share you with anyone, not even Joke!"
" No need to, I think... it's crazy, something elusive emerges... it could yet be, when everyone is completely healed, that all souls will connect with each other perfectly. I can't imagine it yet, to me it would feel like a betrayal to you if I were with other women... I'm sure it won't be something physical, but purely on a soul level. I'm curious to see how that will turn out."
"Yes, I am curious about that too, but that it will be on a soul level seems clear to me. The only question is how that will affect physical contacts. I shouldn't yet think of making love to whoever comes along!"
Anton shot into laughter: "It seems awful to me too! If that was going to happen, I'll keep you trapped here, just so you know!"
He pulled Patricia close to him, stroking her, passionately, as if to reinforce his words. It didn't take long before she was on fire and writhing under his hands. Their union underlined their deep love.
.
After breakfast, Patricia sent a group email to Jonathan and Joke, asking if they felt like joining them for dinner tonight. She got back all happy emoticons, and then a picture of a clock with a question mark next to it.
Patricia looked for a picture of a clock that was at five o'clock, placed the same question mark next to it, and sent it back.
She got all kinds of thumbs up in return, she showed Anton, laughing.
"You guys are really nicely goofy! New way of communicating, funny!" he laughed. "What shall we eat tonight?"
Patricia thought for a moment. "I was thinking of gourmetting. It takes some preparation, but I feel like it."
"Nice, always great to do that, enjoy a long dinner."
.
Throughout the day, Patricia again received several requests for help. She was still responding to them because it did not look like it was already happening by default like during the night before.
Anton had some work to do for his business, a few chores he could do at home at the PC. So they agreed that Patricia would do the shopping for dinner, and then together they would prepare everything for the gourmets.
Patricia smiled as she thought about that, cutting meat and vegetables into small pieces together with Anton, it seemed so silly, but being together like that almost felt like another way of making love. "Almost?" she thought indignantly, 'it's a different way, damn it!'
While they were cutting in the kitchen later that day, Patricia shared that thought with Anton. He looked at her with a broad smile: "That's it, everything we do together is a way of making love. In our society, the physical, the sexual has become so elevated above everything else, that all those other ways have been snowed under. Unbelievable sad! It's lovely to be here together preparing a meal, isn't it? And tonight with Jo and Jo joining us, it's just like that. Different, but very close."
Patricia nodded and kissed him. "Life has never been so wonderful as it is now!"
"That's how it is, and I wouldn't be surprised if it continues to get more wonderful. Let's be surprised! I'm really very curious to see what else we'll discover."
"Otherwise I will! Do you know what I also wonder, by the way? If it will soon become less and less necessary to respond to all those messages from sick and injured people, I won't have much to do. In my adult life, patients have always taken such a leading role, that I don't even know what to do with all my free time soon!"
"Explore slowly, my girl, there's no rush. Maybe the phenomenon of 'hobby' is also just a contrived system to keep us busy with the same thing all the time. Let yourself be guided by what you feel, by what your desire is. Feel like working in the garden today? Do it! Tomorrow feel like lying on the couch with a nice book? Do it! The day after tomorrow feel like painting the house? Hahaha, then ask yourself especially if you really want to!"
Patricia laughed along with him. "You are right, the intention of what you want to tell me is clear. I'll let myself be surprised in that too!"
"As long as you are happy with what you are doing, enjoy what you are doing. As long as you feel at one with it," Anton concluded.
.
By five o'clock, Jonathan and Joke came in, surprised to find the table set with a gourmet set.
"A bottle of wine must come in handy with that," Jonathan laughed, placing a bottle of red and a bottle of white wine on the table.
"So say, you guys really make a party of it!" beamed Patricia. "I'll just grab some wine glasses."
"I think our friendship is worth a party too," Joke responded. "Just this morning I said to Jonathan that I thought it was so special, that since he and I and also you had discovered each other and moved on together, I felt that Anton and I had in some way also gained a soul connection that wasn't there before. I don't understand how it can be, and how it is, but it feels good, it makes our friendship incredibly strong. Do you recognise that, Anton?"
Anton looked smiling at Patricia and then back at Joke: "I said something similar to Patricia this morning."
He shared the impression he had received this morning, about the idea that maybe all people would have soul connections with each other when everyone was fully healed.
"I've thought that too sometimes," Jonathan said, "and it seems to me that that then has nothing to do with physical manifestation of it, but that there would just be such contacts, real relationships, purely on a soul level with everyone. I can't yet grasp how that could be, and I don't even know for sure if it's true."
"Extraordinary, isn't it, that we are talking about the same thing... when you talk about soul connection..." said Anton.
"Yes, and that came to us in response to an email I had received the other night," Patricia shared. "Someone was troubled by an issue and asked for help at a time when I was asleep so I couldn't read it. And I dreamt about it that night. The next morning, I read the message, and a second one that followed it quite shortly, that the problem had been fixed."
"I experienced the same thing, this morning," Jonathan responded. "For a moment, I thought something wasn't quite right, thought it was so strange. I don't remember dreaming about it, but somehow writing an email had been enough. And when I thought about that this morning, the words 'patients open up to your soul, to your soul power' hit me."
"We had come to that conclusion too, and I wouldn't be surprised if this happens more often soon," Patricia said.
Everything for the meal was now on the table. Anton plugged in the gourmet set so that the pans and griddle could get hot. As they started baking and eating, they talked further about the changes.
"Anton suggested giving an option on the website for people to write their own testimonials. How does that seem to you?"
"That seems ideal to me, then the work will continue as usual, while we won't have to pay extra attention to it. Shall we puzzle it out later to see how it works?"
"Will do!"
.
During the meal, Jonathan received an email from a former colleague.
"Do you remember Rianne, that nurse on the ward where we worked?" asked Jonathan to Patricia. "She just emailed. She writes that she follows our site and is actually experiencing a desire to do the same as us. She would like to know how to do that... What do you think, shall I just write that she needs to go through her process of inner healing, go through it consciously, make choices that are good for herself and also consciously listen to her inner self, feel what she is really feeling?"
Patricia chuckled, "You had better write it down right away, it sounds clear. And maybe you could add, that above all she should continue to feel carefully what really suits her, also in terms of her work. It may well be that she needs to keep working there with soul power, that she can do that now, without being looked out of the building."
Jonathan nodded: "Good idea, I'll work it in!"
He typed a reply to his former colleague and put his mobile back in his pocket.
.
After the meal, Anton and Joke did the dishes and cleaned up so Jonathan and Patricia could start fiddling with the website. Before they started doing so, Jonathan glanced at his mailbox. Rianne had sent back a thank you note for the tips and asked if she could email any doubts and questions to him.
'No problem, go ahead!" he wrote back.
.
On the website, they soon discovered the option that allowed people to post their comments. However, what they also discovered, when they tested that feature, was that from the people who would leave a message, their email address would then also be visible.
"I don't like that," Jonathan said.
"No, I don't think that's an option either. Should we still get a subscription then? Oh, wait a minute, I'll search further anyway, stupidly click on everything, see if there are other options..."
Patricia discovered at one point that it was indeed possible to make the email address of the one who wrote not public.
"Then it's a nice option, I'm going to try this on my page anyway!"
"And I on mine, but you go first and I'll do mine afterwards," Jonathan said.
"Fine, and after that we'll just have to make mention of it on our social media accounts..."
.
A few weeks later, Jonathan received another email from their former colleague Rianne. In it, she told him that things were changing in the department. The atmosphere was better and there was more communication. She did not yet notice that people were healing through her soul power, but she did notice that it helped herself sometimes when she had a headache, that she would put her hand on it for a moment, and the pain almost always disappeared.
Jonathan responded happily: 'Rianne, the beginning is there! It started with us too, with headaches and itching. You're on the right track! And if you want to keep us up to date with what's happening in the department, whether anything substantive changes... I'd really like that! I'm looking forward to seeing what's going to happen...'
.
Rianne also looked forward to it and kept a close eye on it. Even if there were small changes, she reported them to Jonathan. The first major change for her was that her soul power also reduced or eliminated patients' pain.
The department head soon found out and asked about how she did it, whether Jonathan or Patricia had instructed her. She said Jonathan had written to her to consciously go through her process of inner healing, and be alert to her inner voice and intuition. She also said she noticed that consciously touching her head when she had a headache helped her get rid of her pain. "Like the power of my soul flows to it at that point, very cool! And so now it also happens to other people. I still thought it was imagination at first, but then it wouldn't benefit other people, right?"
The department head looked at her thoughtfully and decided to take a guess.
"I have a sore throat, does it help with that too?"
"No idea, but it's worth trying, don't you think?"
Rianne touched her neck for a moment and looked at her questioningly.
Her department head, Martine, swallowed a few times, turned her head a little and swallowed again. Amazed, she looked at Rianne: "The pain is gone, completely gone. Would it stay away too?"
"I dare not promise you. But do the same as me, go through your emotional mess, whatever comes up, and take seriously your feelings and impressions you get from within. It's like then your true self starts to grow or something, I don't know what Jonathan would call it, but I personally feel that my real self, my inner self, becomes more real, becomes stronger."
Of course Rianne told this to Jonathan, who forwarded her message to Patricia. How happy they were that there was a breakthrough in their former department!
'We have paved the way, Jonathan, things are getting rolling now!' wrote back Patricia.
.
Jonathan received a call. 'Martine' he saw on the screen of his mobile. He was curious and answered in a cheerful voice: "Hey Martine, it's Jonathan!"
"Ha Jonathan, I'm short on time, so I'll get right to the point... I regret how I treated Patricia and you. I see the change now with Rianne, she has helped me get rid of my sore throat and I feel it is good, no witchcraft or sorcery. She also explained to me what you had written about going through your pain and taking your inner self seriously, something like that. And I started doing that, and I have to tell you, I find that very intense. I feel like I'm in a cage, trapped. Do you have any idea what that is?"
"A cage is any system you are trapped in, is any intimidation that has taught you that you have to behave according to other people's standards. Do you relate to that?"
"Anyway that system of how medicine is put together... you have reaped the bitter fruits of that and again, I'm really sorry about that."
"Joh, Martine, I understand that you find that very annoying, but it's all right, Patricia and I understand, you weren't ready for it then. You were completely stuck in that cage then, and that seems to be getting a bit weaker now. That cage, we'll just break it open so you're free to get out. Go and spread your wings in the coming days, at work and in your personal situation."
"How did you do that, Jonathan? It feels like a clamp is off me!"
"Wonderful!" exclaimed Jonathan. "What I have done is listen to you, really listen. My soul does the rest... and those words I uttered about that cage, they also just came from my soul."
"I did feel there was something about it, you were speaking with some kind of authority or something. It's different, not the kind of authority we're used to, more like... with power, yes, it was, it was very powerful!"
"Nice to hear Martine! Something else, do you know our site, from Patricia and me?"
"Recently yes, through Rianne. I saw that you also give people an opportunity to share their experience. Could I do the same, about that cage? Now that's not something that comes with ordinary illness..."
"Nonetheless, emotional injuries and the like do affect our physical condition. And I think, those consequences are much bigger than we have always thought. I think, most physical problems stem from how we are psychologically, emotionally, whether we are broken, feel trapped.
Since I went through that process of inner healing, I haven't been sick, not even a cold, nothing really!"
"Extraordinary... and what you just did to me, with that cage, would that be something you could also come and do in the ward here? Would you want to?"
"I would certainly want to, but at this stage it doesn't seem wise. What I would offer, though, is that whoever wants it can call us or come by. It doesn't have to take long, you just noticed. Try to follow your heart in it, if you have the impression that colleagues would be interested in it, suggest it to them. And if they ask how you have changed so much... feel carefully whether you can tell the person asking about it or whether you should keep a low profile. Will you keep me informed?"
"Yes, I definitely will, and I'll just see if I can leave a message on your site. Thanks Jonathan, it feels like there's no more trouble between us, is that right?"
"That's absolutely right, Martine! Thanks for your call!"
Jonathan was momentarily upset by this phone call, upset in a happy way. He didn't want to bother Joke with it, who was upstairs working on her book. He would tell her later. Patricia then... Yes, he would call Patricia about it!
.
Since then, Jonathan received emails from former colleagues on a regular basis, and so did Patricia. In consultation with Patricia, they invited them to their home. They came in groups to Jonathan's, and Patricia made sure she was there by default. While Joke, who absolutely loved how the state of affairs was changing, provided coffee and tea, tongues were loosening, more and more former colleagues appeared to be longing for change, longing to break free from standard methods and protocols.
"Every person is different, right? So every patient is different, but we always treated them the same!"
"Why hand out painkillers, when your soul can do the same work through your hand? Rianne has shown it so many times now!"
Rianne blushed. " Every time, it is a miracle to my senses. Sometimes I just feel that something starts flowing through my arm when I touch a pain spot."
Jonathan elaborated: "How that feels will be different every time and with every person. And the more you heal yourself internally, the more natural that flow of power is. I rarely feel any of it myself anymore, do you Patricia?"
Patricia shook her head. "Actually never anything, I know that my soul is also radiating to you now, nice to know, it's a thick support for your inner healing, but I don't feel it myself."
Ton raised his hand: "My back was bothering me, but it's gone."
Patricia grinned: "I knew it, I got the impression while I was talking that you had back pain, and I also knew that the moment I got that impression, it would disappear immediately. That's how fast things move these days. Sometimes we get emails from sick people, and before we have even opened them, they send an email after it saying it is already past. Totally happy! I feel that we haven't done anything yet, but that's not the case. Because they mail us, they open up to our soul, to our soul power. And you have done the same. Therefore, the next step is not so difficult, I suppose. You all know the phenomenon of intimidation and manipulation. Everyone knows how it feels when you are systematically under the control of people, or of a system. The bad news is, the healthcare system, right from training, has sucked you into such a harness. They have left little or no room for your own impressions at training and also at work. Everything has to fit within the frameworks, go according to those protocols. There is consultation, but always within those borders, within those bars... that whole system is a prison, in which you have been imprisoned. Your own thinking and feeling are largely disabled. The good news is, that our presence in the ward back then, made a start to loosen that tight prison. And today you have opened up to break through further, to break out. If your body starts reacting to that later, or if you get emotional... don't stop yourself, don't hold yourself back. Let yourself go, it's no problem at all."
For a moment, she looked around the circle, saw that everyone nodded. She smiled and looked at Jonathan with a wide grin: "Do it together?"
Jonathan burst out laughing, "I wouldn't know how, you do it!"
"I don't know how either, all I know is that all those bars have to be opened, gone, loosened and you have to become free of all the systems people have ever trapped and twisted you into!"
As she spoke, she saw a strange movement here and there, heard Ton suddenly groan and saw him jump up with a scream. He mowed through the air with his arms and cried out, first a kind of convulsive scream, then a happy and joyful cry: "Joecheeeeeeeee it's gone!"
The others too started moving, feeling what it was doing in their bodies, feeling what it was doing in their emotions. Several of them started crying, others laughing, and everyone let themselves go in it. It just needed to get out.
It ended up being a pleasant evening of visiting, until Rianne jumped up: 'I have an early shift, I have to go! Thanks guys, I'm soooo happy!"
Waving hand kisses to everyone, she walked quickly to the door, hugging Joke who had come after her. "Thanks for your hospitality, it was a wonderful time here!"
.
Systems cannot be turned upside down without a struggle. But little by little, step by step, change began to occur, first in one's own department, then in other departments.
Regularly, staff with all kinds of different functions from the hospital visited Jonathan or Patricia, and came away from there feeling freer and visibly happier.
The atmosphere in the whole hospital changed so rapidly that even patients who came more often began to notice. No one could put their finger on it, but if a patient once asked about it, the nurse or doctor would usually reply along the lines of "We are increasingly following our hearts, our souls, and that does us good, and that does the patients good".
Patricia consulted with Jonathan whether it would be an idea to send Soul journalists on it. Jonathan thought it would be best to discuss that with Rianne and Martine. He immediately called Martine and asked her if she would consider it, perhaps together with Rianne. The interview could take place at Jonathan's or Patricia's place, if they were more comfortable with that. Martine promised she would think about it, together with Rianne. Via email, he gave them the Soul Journalism site and email address.
.
The next day, he cleared the sitting area, made it extra cosy with a bunch of flowers from the garden, because he was expecting Patricia, Martine and Rianne, as well as Christian and Eric. It became a pleasant conversation, which also casually included Jonathan and Patricia.
Martine commented afterwards, how happy she was with the atmosphere. "I experience, despite having been anything but pleasant with you guys, absolutely no resentment or frustration or anything like that. You are happy with what you do for patients, and with what you can do for us, and there is no recrimination whatsoever. I find that particularly beautiful!"
"We are happy with something more, Martine," added Patricia, "we are happy with ourselves, because we have found ourselves, and that, together with what we get to do, is incredibly satisfying! All this together makes me feel that I am alive, really alive! And then reproaches are faint rubbish, I don't feel like that anymore, you see?"
Martine smiled at her joy. "I look forward to the day when I will experience it the same way myself. And no, don't say anything, I know that day will come, I can feel it!"
"Wow..." whispered Jonathan.
"There is only one problem left, one real problem. And yet I have a feeling it won't be a problem in the end," Martine told him. "The management is complaining about revenue. The doctors themselves declare less, so they also earn less, but almost all of them are enjoying the changes, including in themselves. So for them it is not a problem. And so it goes with the therapists, with the pharmacy. Well, if you don't need equipment or medicines more or less, you can't charge for them either. So there has been a big drop in revenue in a short time, and that makes the management uncertain, scared and angry. But you know what's so funny? When you, Patricia and Jonathan were still working with us, that was one of the things I was afraid of. And now? Now I laugh inside, enjoy what is changing, go to work with more pleasure than ever before and see that people recover faster, wounds heal better, patients and staff have fun together. In short, by now the hospital seems more like a party place than a hospital! If the management is going to take us to task, we will feel strongly about what is really going on, and that is already very close to what you said, Patricia, close to 'being happy with yourself'. I feel that is the reason we have become immensely stronger, and will have no problem facing the management with the truth of our souls! And then how to proceed financially? No idea, maybe we can sublet parts of the building to the homeless, or invent other activities for it. Plenty of possibilities, and our souls will then indicate what is best!"
