Chapter 240.

Security

At that moment, the doorbell rang. "I'll get the door," Ellen said. She greeted Marieke and her team, and let them in. Marieke hugged Lisa, and meanwhile watched Jacqueline wiped her tears from her cheeks. While Lisa hugged Joke and Bennie, Marieke calmly walked up to Jacqueline with her hand outstretched.

"Tough days huh," she said. "I'm Marieke. Ellen had asked me to arrange security for you."

Marieke briefly explained who the man and woman were who had entered with her, and how everything else would work. "The security team will never come into your house unless you have pressed one of the emergency buttons or asked them to come yourself."

Her explanation was clear and seemed to calm Jacqueline down a bit.

"Fancy some coffee, guys?" asked Lisa.

"Gladly," said Joke, while Bennie also nodded. "For once in your house, Jacqueline, then we'll disappear to the next door."

Lisa handed both Joke and Bennie a runner, which hung from a wooden spool. Joke saw in a flash that there was something on it. "Hope, it has the word hope engraved on it. Nice Lisa, appropriate! Those who come to live here could use some hope!"

.

After coffee, Joke and Bennie left for the large room next door. Marieke and Ellen said goodbye to Jacqueline and Lisa for the time being, and walked behind Joke and Bennie for a while because Marieke was curious about the big room.

"Do you see the whole thing a little bit?" asked Lisa, as they stayed behind together.

Jacqueline nodded: "Yes, although I must admit that I find it all very exciting. Everything is new to me, even living alone, I've never done that before. And the house is beautiful, but still strange. I think I'll just unpack my suitcases and take another look at everything."

"Fine, then I'll go to the store for toothbrushes and stuff in a minute. Oh yeah, there's no bell next to your front door. There is only a bell by the front door of the large living room. If anyone comes by, well-intentioned or malicious, they will always have to go through the security guards.

Oh yes, about the meals... I want to tell you again, that you may take from the refrigerator, the freezer, or from the pantry anything you need or feel like. And if you need anything, just let me know by sending a message to my phone or using the notepad on the pantry. Do it, okay? So will Joke and Bennie. And you can eat with them, but you can also pick up something and prepare and eat it here in your home. Just do what is pleasant for you, nobody has a problem with that!

Starting tomorrow, I can arrange with the boarding house for you to have a hot meal here. But if you prefer to cook yourself, or heat up something from the freezer, you can do that too. I would love to hear from you all tomorrow morning. Above all, remember that we want to do everything we can to help you through this period as best we can."

Jacqueline nodded, "I'll think about it and let you know. I do have one more question about the rent. How much should I pay per month?"

Lisa burst out laughing, "Good thing you mentioned it, I have the contract here with me, but had completely forgotten about it." She fished the paper out of her pocket and handed it to Jacqueline. "Just read it over quietly. I'll be back later with the groceries and I'll hear from you then! Oh yes, in the drawer of your wall unit is a cell phone. If I want to reach you, I will call there, also if I want to come to you from the big room. Will you make sure it stays charged?"

Jacqueline laughed: "That's handy! You really have thought of everything..."

"Well, by experience... I'll go out through the big room, will you lock your front door and the connecting doors behind me?"

Jacqueline stood up and walked with Lisa. "I'll check with Bennie and Joke right away, about dinner."

"Good idea, see you later!" With a wave of her arm, Lisa greeted the three of them and walked to the guesthouse, where she found the family drinking coffee. "I'll have another cup of coffee here and then I need to go buy some anyway. Toothbrushes and stuff..."

Lisa reported briefly on Jacqueline's arrival, emphasizing how beautiful she had found everything. To Margreet she told how she had been touched by her tapestry. "Also by Elly's mural by the way, I'll tell her about that later," she said.

"Elly has already put a photo collage on the website and social media, have you seen that yet?" asked Huib.

"No ya, I've hardly been on those sites. Just haven't had the time," Lisa sighed.

Huib looked up their own website on his mobile and showed her the pictures.

"How fun is that, a collage of the process and a collage of the end result. Really nice photos!"
